Title: PHOTOS: Four Mile Run With a View!
Post by: LandoverDivision on January 29, 2009, 02:57:23 PM
Just a few photos from FMR. Theodore (Orionvii271) took about 3 or 4 of these photos. Anybody notice anything different about 2637?

It doesn't have the "THIS BUS IS RUNNING ON CLEAN NATURAL GAS" message. And it doesn't have those trees.

Maybe that was the bus I saw earlier this month in Alexandria:

I was at King Street on the Metro platform this afternoon and saw what appeared to be a freshly painted Orion VII/CNG with no ads pulled in, signed for REX.  This bus, however, also did not have the banner with the trees on the CNG tank, nor did it say THIS BUS RUNS ON COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS on either side.  No photo since my camera wasn't out and my train was pulling in.

Thanks. My camera wasn't working right but I'm glad they still came out nice.

Yeah I remember that. Not only that but 2637 (and/or 2636) was the first bus to have that Go Green On Metro jungle-theme wrap thing. Wow, I thought they were gonna be as "irreplacable" as Ride-On's 25th Anniversary buses.

I'm glad that scheme wasn't "irreplacable".  I thought it was ugly and don't mind seeing it gone.

2637 is no longer wrapped in "Gang Green."  Should 2501-2523 & 2636 be next?

As of last weekend (1/31 & 2/1), the so-called 2500-series buses still had the "Go Green On Metro" whole bus wrap.  The ads have started to fade, especially in the rear.

Is it possible they can be on other routes too?

It happens all the time, just like with the Pike Ride and 38B buses, but ... they "try" to keep them on the 9S to the extent that they can.  At some point, however, the goal comes down to "just get the goddamn run filled".

They must have striped it...? wasnt't that bus a "Go Green" painted bus along with 2636.

You are correct, I think.

I think (my op) that they shouldn't do that it confuses the riders.
I saw a 9s doing the 17m and so many people didn't get on that bus it wasent funny . Then the next bus was so packed it was funny...

For all they know, the banners could be an ad or something. Either way, if the sign displays a certain route, even if it's a bus of a different branding, then I don't think there's anything to be confused about.

Outside of the REX and maybe the 38B, what is so great about these lines that they have to be branded?

Why don't they brand the 5A and B30, then?

Anyway, it's just too bad they started doing that Local/Express/Extra branding for all buses.  There are NOT that many full time Express routes running in the area.

Technically the B30 did have branded buses, can't remember if they still do.  Just like the Orion VIIs for the 38B, Pike Ride and the 9S, 4390-95 have roof line banners and for a brief time had side ads denoting the B30.

AFAIK most of the branding went away with the rehabs.
