Title: PHOTOS: Barcelona Metro, Trams, and Funiculars
Post by: WMATAGMOAGH on January 13, 2009, 07:08:37 PM
As promised, I'm finally catching up on photos from my time in Europe during the first half of last year.  I added over 400 photos to my website this past weekend, but I'll share some teasers here.
We start in Barcelona on the Metro:

The tram network is fairly new.  Currently, it is two separate networks with three lines on each, one network on each side of the city.  However, there are plans to link the two.  I only rode and photographed Trambesòs on the northern/eastern side of the city, but both networks use the same Alstom Citadis 302 trams.

The grass running is the same type of running that the proposed Purple Line in DC would have that I referenced in my post last night.

Finally, here are photos of Funicular de Montjuïc and Funicular de Tibidabo.  Funicular de Montjuïc is operated by the same authority that operates many of the Metro lines and buses in Barcelona, as is another funicular in the area that I didn't ride.  The Funicular de Tibidabo isn't operated by the transit authority, but a bus line and vintage tram (the bus runs when the tram doesn't, unfortunately, the tram wasn't running the day I went out there) connects to it from the nearest Metro station.  First Funicular de Montjuïc:

And now Funicular de Tibidabo:

More at http://orenstransitpage.com/otpspainpics/barcelonahome.htm (http://orenstransitpage.com/otpspainpics/barcelonahome.htm), and I'll post more teasers from Europe, including bus photos, over the coming days.
