Title: 11/2/2008: New Forums Template
Post by: Tristan on November 02, 2008, 01:12:42 AM
I got tired of the old look - kinda clunky - so I installed a new pre-made forum theme just to get us through until this software "goes gold" (comes out of beta).  At that point, I'll try and get it looking more like the rest of the site (or maybe the rest of the site looking more like this...hmmm...).

At this point, to work on a new theme only to have it have to change if they were to release a new version...just doesn't make sense.

Love the new template. Just got to get use to it a little bit.

Okay apparently the people -AREN'T- satisfied.  Got a couple reports of certain buttons not appearing!

The New Topic and Post Reply functions to ME are slightly more prominent before because they are closer to the left side of the screen.  Maybe it's because I'm an admin or something, I dunno, but the attached screenshots show what I see.

If you don't see what I see, use the Quick Reply box down here or send me a PM to alert me of this, because I see them clearly.

I still don't see what you see.

I'm not seeing REPLY or NEW TOPIC buttons either in IE.  All I can do is use the Quick Reply box at the bottom.  Speaking of which, there's an obnoxiously large amount of dead space between the posts and the quick reply box.  As well, most posts tend to have a lot of unused space within their boxes as well.  At best, its a little clunky looking, but it might be a bore more troubling if you try to print a thread for info, as you might use a lot of sheets.

All the themes from this developer seem to have the same problem (IE vs. Firefox).  Oh well.  Switched to one of the other pre-installed themes for the time being, let me know if this or the first one is better.  I originally thought if I could basically click one button and the forums suddenly look a lot better (which was the case), I might as well do it while working on bigger stuff, but...well that didn't go to well.

GOOD MOVE!

I like this better than the water droplet template - only glitch to me is that stickys don't stand out too much like they did in the original template.

Now FEED THAT CAT!

Yea I know, and the Quick Reply doesn't have BBCode buttons...I can make those minor modifications though.

Thanks everyone for the "OH NO!" reports.  It's pretty motivating that this place means something to as many people as those who notified me.
