| RICHMOND, Va. – Demand for tickets on the first run of new Amtrak Virginia service from Norfolk, Va., on Dec. 12 has lead Amtrak and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation to add four cars to the train. The new daily service will provide a same-seat trip from Norfolk to Washington, Baltimore, New York, and other points. The four cars will add 280 more seats to the train, which was sold out. Tickets are now on sale for the additional seats. "It is encouraging to see such strong support for the new Norfolk service and we are pleased to offer additional capacity on the first day of operation," said Amtrak President and CEO Joe Boardman. The train will bring intercity passenger service to Norfolk for the first time since 1977. |
