Title: Egged Sends Shavuot Greetings (and some bonuses)
Post by: WMATAGMOAGH on June 06, 2011, 05:41:48 PM
Unlike last year, this year Egged is sending Shavuot greetings via its destination signs.  (For those of you wondering what happened to Passover, I was out of the country for that holiday.)  Like on Yom HaAtzmaut (http://www.subchat.com/buschat/readflat.asp?Id=232630) and Yom Kippur, the last letter of the greeting is cut off on many (but not all) buses due to what seems to be bad programming.  I was lucky that a friend tipped me off to the fact the buses started showing this sign this morning and as a result took my camera with me to work so I could get photos of the signage.

BONUS PHOTOS of the new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter buses that are now operating on route 38, which connects the Jewish Quarter of the Old City to King George Street and King David Street in the center of town.  These buses entered service a few weeks ago and I haven't seen any of the MAN 11-220 "Mini" Buses (http://orenstransitpage.com/otpisraelpics/jlemmanmini.htm) that operated on this route previously for a some time now.  Full size buses can't operate on Route 38 (or Route 43) due to the tight turns (http://orenstransitpage.com/otpskylines/jerusalemsl289.jpg) and narrow streets (http://orenstransitpage.com/otpskylines/jerusalemsl72.jpg) of the Old City.

AND YET ANOTHER BONUS PHOTO of the light rail, which is still undergoing testing and as far as I know, there is no date for when it might carry passengers, either on a partial route or the entire route:
