Title: June 2011 Observations
Post by: WayneNYC on June 01, 2011, 09:14:41 PM
6388 NIS, on I-270 southbound.

Shocker of the day: Looks like AU's shuttle fleet has moved up in the world.  I saw several of their Phantoms and both Advantages.  All that I saw are now sporting electronic destination signs on the front and side.  They're doing a slow scroll - "ROUTE BLUE - MAIN CAMPUS - METRO".

5436 on the J9

5404 on the X3 at 14th and U. This isn't the first time an artic has been on the X3, I remember seeing 5200's on there several years back.

The US Open Golf Tournament is running this week (6/13 -6/19) at the Congressional Country Club in Potomac MD (Montgomery County).  There are park and ride lots and shuttle buses at several locations throughout the county.  The Montgomery College parking lot at Manakee Street and Route 355 in Rockville is being used and there were about 30 buses of every type and shape from everywhere on the east coast in the parking lot running the contract shuttle service.  It looked like half of Peter Pan's fleet was present.
Here are a couple of photos from my iPhone:

got a shot of that in the photos thread. also, spotted new rehab 2605 at Ballston. got a photo to post later.

plus, what is this location? 38.942093,-76.858711 (it's in that corner between 495, US 50, Ardwick-Armore Rd, and MLK Hwy), I see a lot of buses on nextbus are ending up there. by any chance, is it where they get pre-rehabbed or something?

I wonder why they don't use that route instead of 295. 295 gets pretty jammed up at times.

I went to Northern VA yesterday via 295 had a 15-20 mile backup northbound yesterday afternoon. On the way back it was backed up coming out of DC, so we came back up on 95.

MTA, June 19, 2011:  MCI D4500 coach #170C operating 7:00 AM departure of Route 201 ICC Express Service from Gaithersburg P&R to BWI.  I was one of two passengers who embarked for the airport and both of us had luggage.  The driver, a woman (the first woman driver I have seen on this Atlantic Coast Charter contract operation) hopped down cheerfully without being asked and stowed the luggage in the underfloor luggage compartment.  The service and the equipment on this line remains excellent but I really hope it attracts more passengers.  No other passengers boarded at the three other stops on this Sunday morning run.

Today I saw an ex-Greyhound MC-12 that has found a second career at Quick's.  The bus looked and sounded really good.  I was glad to see one of the MC-12s in good condition, as they were one of my favs.
