Title: PHOTOS: Connector's new toys
Post by: 79MetroExtraMD on May 26, 2011, 07:51:17 PM
One of my Canadian contacts showed me these pics of Connector's 2011 New Flyer XD40 Xcelsiors. Even though they look hybrid, they are straight diesel. These pics are from BAE System's flickr photostream. Enjoy

Wait whaaa?  I originally thought they were diesel (with the short roof hump) but then...why would they be on BAE's Flikr?

I guess I'll go out to ride the Fairfax Connector one day soon...I actually have yet to ride any of their New Flyers, lol, and could always use more pictures.

Take a nice long ride on the Route 574 between Reston Town Center and Tysons Corner which almost always uses New Flyers plus you get a Northern Virginia geography lesson thrown in for free (lol).

I can top that. The 401 from Franconia to Tysons.

If they are on the BAE Systems website and listed as 'HybriDrive', then these buses would be hybrids, correct?

He told me they weren't. The main thing is that these buses don't have battery packs on the roofs. The roof detailing sort of makes it look hybrid, but they arent.

Straight from BAE's web site. No specific mention of Connector:

The front destination signs on the new Connector's are white LED and the side and rear signs use the regular orange LED.  I think they switched over to Twin-Vision from Luminator.
