Title: MTA cancels bidding on MARC Camden and Brunswick Lines
Post by: WMAveteran on November 16, 2010, 04:05:05 PM
The Tuesday, November 16, 2010 edition of THE WASHINGTON POST reported "Maryland has canceled the bidding on a contract to take over the operations of the MARC Camden and Brunswick lines from CSX, saying its bid solicitation had failed to generate sufficient competition for the work."  Apparently only one bidder remained after Amtrak dropped out and that is Keolis Rail Service America.  MTA stated "it would take 'a couple of months' to put the contract back on the market."  CSX is under contract to operate the trains until 2010, "but the state has an option for a series of extensions."  CSX did not bid on the new contract.
