Hello all,

Justed to say i was downtown today around 11am and I saw Metro bring in the new light rail car and place it on the tracks. Now its on display. I really dont like it it looks small inside.

Since these cars are supposed to be very similar to the Portland ones, it appears that they are only 8 feet (96 inches) wide!  That's narrower than WMATA's buses!  That's surely more narrow than SEPTA's Trolley Fleet.  I hope to check them out, though.  Based on pictures of the interior of Portland's fleet, though, it seems they don't have much in the way of seating either.

Yeah they do some runs that interline with the As, basicly what the Southeastern used to do to accomidate the school kids.

Either there was a lost metrobus driver or Ride On is borrowing  one of Metro's DE40LFA'. There was a metro local LFA going traveling down Montgomery Village Ave when i saw it at Montgomery village ave and walkers choice road...very strange to see it there lol even though there at lakeforest during rush hour.

Then yes, that is indeed a strange sighting.  I have no idea why a Montgomery bus would be heading into Montgomery Village.  Even if it was doing something like going from the J7/J9 to Olney to cover a Y or Z2 trip, I'm not sure why it would stay on M.V. Ave.

Metrobus: 2407 on the 5A on Sunday, 5/10/2010 on Route 267 (toll road), destination "L'Enfant Plaza Station."  I was driving right next to it and paced it at 70+ mph on some of the downhill segments and a steady 65+ on the uphill segments.

2407 on the 5A? *scratches my head* Bussian roulette time again?

Wow!  The NF C40LFs made it to NoVA???  Those buses do have some pretty decent speed.  I've also paced them at 65+ more than once on I-495.  Then once I rode one (I think it was 2455) on the shuttle for the Bay Bridge Walk about 4 years ago and I'm sure that bus was doing close to 70 MPH, possibly more on route 50.

Tristan and I found 5311 on the 70 on Friday.  Half & O Streets is such a small place for a 60 foot Neoplan Artic.

Wow, a C40LF in NoVA!   It would be nice to switch things up a little bit down there, especially on the weekends where Four Mile Run operates every Metrobus in the area.

bad news guys, 2407 is back at Bladensburg, looks like FMR is not getting them C40LFs...at least not yet.
also, I forgot who said 4362 was on a Landover route, but apparently it's back at Royal. According to Nextbus, Royal has 4337-4372 and 4376, 4373-4387 (except 4376) is at Landover. As for the 2100s, Royal has up to 2113 now. 2114 was laying over at Federal Triangle, so it's most likely still a Northern bus, and 2115 was on the S4.

according to Nextbus, 4308 is still at Bladensburg, I don't think it's doing any routes there, probably there for maintenance or something. here's what's from Nextbus, the coordinates point to Bladensburg Division.

My mistake, 4254 remains at West Ox as well, I forgot to look up the coordinates for that one.

According to Nextbus, you are right about 2167-2169 and 2172. I also found that 2170, 2171, 2173, and 2174 are also at Blade.

I saw a 43?? bus with a Royal block [RE??] on the I-495 inner loop near Gallows Rd.  Probably deadheading to a 28A or 28X run in Tysons.  It followed me for a bit on the Beltway.

About an hour before that was the odd sighting... a Metro Flx was also on the inner loop (it passed me while I was driving on the outer loop) between Gallows Rd and Little River Tnpk with its fleet numbers removed. A/C unit was on the roof.  It was too quick of a sighting to get any info.

Are retired Flx's being moved through VA on the Beltway?

That Metro D may have been purchased.  It's unusual for an agency to drive around a bus that has been retired.  Nice catch!

Noteworthy things from an outing I had today:
Lakeforest Transit Center is currently under remodeling or something; most of Lost Knife Rd. was closed, so the buses were loading and unloading in the parking lot and the circling road.
6477 and 6475 on the S4 and S2, respectively, at Silver Spring.
I rode 5368 on the 47; this bus has a very weird-sounding engine; when the bus decelerates, it sounds like it has a Cummins engine. Also, the back sign is stuck on "2".
I also rode 5906 on the 100; this bus smelled really bad.

Two more things from yesterday, which I tried to post, but couldn't due to some type of forum error:
5923 broke down at GTC that morning; its sign said "61 SHADY GROVE", even though I had just gotten off a 61 bus (5943), and then a few minutes later, I saw 5943 leaving on the 61. I don't know why 5923's sign said "61", since route switching almost never happens at GTC.

These are the options that took with the initial order. There are alot of Flxs still on the fleet and they have to go sometime. The maintenance costs on them are high and getting new buses lowers the MDBF and the parts for the buses are easier to find for the LFAs than Flxs.

East Falls Church was a swarm of FMR 7s.  No 60' on the bus bridge shuttle - all FMR 40'-ers.  I was wondering if they would do a special opening of West Ox or something for the Orange Line shut down.

FFX Connector diverted their West Falls routes to East Falls Church as well so there were Orion Vs and their new New Flyers so it wasn't all CNG.  That small East Falls bus loop was as packed as I've ever seen it.

WMATA issued a press release stating that only 22 buses would be used for the shuttle at any given time as a maximum, no reason to think that FMR couldn't handle that on a weekend and still manage its pull out.
