Title: Video: The Ultimate Transit Fan's Pet Peeve

While fanning yesterday, I had an opportunity to video a pair of New Flyers crossing an intersection...until tragedy struck. Here's the result:

I was going to post a thread in a similar vein.  Earlier this week, I had something similar happen, but the obstruction was of a totally different nature.

I was standing by the side of the road in Jerusalem.  At this particular location, the sidewalk doesn't run next to the road.  Instead, the sidewalk is officially a bike path (that I prefer to call a glorified sidewalk since bicyclists have to avoid signs, power line poles, bus stops, and the like while they ride, in addition to multiple grade crossings) that is perhaps 3 or 4 meters away from the road, with trees and bushes planted between the road and the bike path.  For whatever reason, there is also a cutout along the side of the road, where a car can pull out of traffic if they need to for some reason.  Israelis also have a habit of taking care of business wherever they are, with almost no regard to what their surroundings are.  It isn't uncommon to see men towering over a bush on the sidewalk, as an example, in highly built up areas of Jerusalem.  So, this car pulls up, and blocks the shot I'm waiting for.  Two kids get out and go into the bushes, and then a third, younger kid gets out and begins to take care of business on the concrete pad between the car and line of bushes, right where I can see!  And sure enough, here comes a bus that I wanted to photograph, and while it may have been amusing to take a photo including the entire obstruction, peeing kid and all, I decided against it and tried to resituate to not have the car or kid in my photo.

Any other good stories?

I don't shoot video, but it has happened to me plenty of times.  Some people don't realize they're stepping the photo, some are considerate enough to duck or not step in front of the camera and others seem to not care.

Sometimes when I'm waiting for my time to shoot... if someone comes along I'm ready to shift my position if possible to get the shot.   Sometimes it works, other times not.
