...and I saw 5438 leaving Glenmont (northbound) on the Y and what appeared to be 5216 arriving at Glenmont about 2 minutes apart.  Neither bus had standees, so I guess one could conclude that the Y's don't need artics???

I was being sarcastic I knew the Y's needed artics.

Yea, that was it.  Everytime I see it, it's dark.  I wonder if they are going to try and now save 6648 which I think used to be the old rodeo bus.  That, I believe is parked at Bladensburg.

@ChristopherF: The white posts are for a fancy, schmancy transit center type thing.  Basically replacing the bunch of run down bus shelters with a nice structure.

A Metrobus (6349) and truck collided at 15th and I, NW this afternoon, 4 of the 15 passengers on board sustained minor, non-life threatening injuries.  The bus was on a 36 bound for Friendship Heights at the time of the incident.  Some pictures of the accident scene are available on the blog post, linked above.

This explains my sighting of 6349 around 2:30 PM today.  I was driving along I Street and saw 6349 parked (front wheels turned to the curb).  I didn't notice any obvious damage to the bus and other vehicles gone(police, other vehicle involved and WMATA supervsion).

      28A Alexandria-Tysons Corner Line
28B will be discontinued. 28A will operate as a local route, incorporating portions of the 28B route. A NEW 28X limited stop, rush hour only service will run between Baileys Crossroads and Tysons Corner.

These 37 footers may be fine running on the route due to the holiday season, but...

Wasn't one of the MAJOR problems with the Q2 that the high floor 40 foot buses were generally overcrowded?  Artics were regularly used on this route.  I can't imagine that so many people have stopped taking the bus to warrant 37 footers on the new Q line.

As I've said before, WMATA should have looked for some second-hand artics to use in the interim rather than working the 5200's to death and creating an artic crunch until they can finally run the 60BRT's on the X2.

I wonder what the viability of borrowing a few 60-BRT's from Bladensburg and allowing them to fuel at Ride On's Gaithersburg division would be. They'd have to be limited to the Q's for logistical reasons, but it might be a good stopgap rather than providing excess capacity to the U8 and in off hours to the R's.

You got to be kidding me. I've been on this route multiple times (from Wheaton to Greenbelt). The last thing this route needs is 35ft buses.

It sure is better than no bus.  Did they even boost the amount of service along Viers Mill Road with the new Q structure, though?  I've been taking this change as a better allocation of resources as well as a way to save the $$.

By the way, about that C2, I highly agree!  Hopefully there's a C4 directly behind it, preferably with a Flx E or Orion V.

SMH at Ken's observation on 5439 on the T2. Unless that's an interline with a Q4, this makes no sense. Doesn't the T2 do fine on the weekend with half the bus under Ride On?
