This can be seen as a "the more things change..." story a decade later, and as it makes its rounds it'll be kindling for the Metro fire, but the growth numbers are impressive. The all-time weekday record in 1999 (600,000) is less than an average weekday (~750,000+) in 2009 even after the post-crash dip!
