I saw 2090 on the S2 with an N block last week. Also, are all of the 1999 Gillig Phantoms (5410-5423) at Nicholson now?
Can anyone explain this?

ummm...an ART bus in an empty parking lot?
Is this a new art bus? Or old?
They've had those for a few years. They had even smaller versions before they bought those. The NABI's are just very recent, but they started off with cutaways and other smaller vehicles.
I never saw these before. I was thinking it was a newer version of the champion's.
I believe they are numbered in the 5220s and 5230s, if i'm not mistaking

The Mutated Mommy Mobiles live? I thought all the non-cutaway pre-NABI ART buses were gone.
Thanks for the reminder about how prior to their love affair with NABI and conversion to real buses why people called it "FART". :)

I knew it, it was either 5409 or 5410 (or both) that moved to Nicholson. I just saw one of those buses, with the -paint scheme that can never, ever, ever be changed at any time- deadheading towards Nicholson division (it was actually on Nicholson Rd) but I couldn't see the number or headlights (they have different headlights since 5409 is a '97 model and 5410 is a '99 model, in case you didn't know)

5410 is still a Silver Spring bus...for now. it seems like most if not all 5400's have been shunted over to Nicholson and some 5300's are there now (I saw
965393 and its gimpy breaks on the
VanGo 28 this morning)..
On the Nicholson tangent, I saw
025067 on the 4 this morning on Second Avenue. Could this have been another route sent to Silver Spring or another byproduct of the low-floor cutaway situation?

5067??
speaking of which, lately I haven't seen a cutaway AT ALL...this morning I went to Germantown Transit Center and saw nothing but baby Gilligs on the 75, 83, 97, and 98 (all of them were in the new scheme). The highest numbered baby Gillig I saw today was 5030, that was at Shady Grove Station less than an hour ago on the 79.
Hmm...I know I'm slightly nearsighted, but am I seeing Gillig Phantoms on the "VanGo" service? Sorta can't call it "VanGo" if you are running buses on it.
Plus...5613 on the 18?! I am incredibly out of the loop...never thought I'd see an Orion V on the 18!

Yes both the #4 and the #18 are Silver Spring routes as of September 6, 2009.

hey Chris where are the cutaways at?
RIDE ON:
5315-5349 are the 2009 40' Gillig Advantage hybrids, not 5314-5348 as previously reported by a fleet department supervisor in an Email sent to me last month. I actually did see 5349 on the 47 earlier this week.
METROBUS:
9701, 9711, 9730 & 9768 are still alive.

I agree with Tristan. I love bus bridges. I hope the shuttle is running today i will go and check it out. Plus io like the way those pics came out with those 2 60brts and express LFA's. Nice!

Agreed. I like them too, just for the fact that you'll see buses away from their regular areas. Obviously, we always don't like the events that causes the need for bus bridges. That said, one of my favs to watch was that when the car went through the fence in Silver Spring and laned on the tracks. During that emergency bus bridge, I got to see lots of good action at Silver spring station. The best part for me was seeing the New Flyer C40LFs there for the first time. This is the time when Four Mile still had Orion VI's and one of the 38B Nextbus Orion VIs was there along with a 35-footer Metro-B from Arlington. Then there were "walls of buses" lined up on Wayne Ave, Georgia Ave and Colesville Road.
Ken, the BWs look pretty good. I would probably take them in color and then Greyscale them in Irfanview or Photoshop in case I don't like the outcome. Just an idea though.

I was going to do that at first, but I did take a color photo of them and the colors just felt a bit askew. I decided to use the in-camera settings for the best effect.
Some photos from last week and from Monday:

We want genuine photos, not obvious photoshops. I have a very keen eye for detail in photos to tell if they're real or modified.

Geez I just tried something new and wanted to see how it looks calm down. And why can't I put those kind of photos on here? It looks good to me. And other people I know agreed too. And again it's not photoshopped.
I personally thought it was a nice looking photo. Just enough/slight fuzziness to enhance the object in the center of the photo (The METRObus).
Keep up the good work.
Me too son its good.
Can that work with multiple buses or any type of object in the pic?

Who is we? I have my own philosophies about what sort of editing is "permissible", and I wouldn't say this edit is out of bounds. I suspect most people here do minor touch ups to their photos anyway. It is a nice photo and the editing creates an interesting effect.
Landover Division, if you see the Bus of Vision, I could use a shot. I nver shot it at FMR.

You can try doing that, but I think it is an effect that is best applied sparingly and only where appropriate. You don't want to try getting that effect on every photo.

Same thing I was thinking. It really wouldn't look good if buses had their backs turned or if I had more than one bus in a shot. Maybe I should only do it if a picture is similar to my 6446 picture.
"Credibility"? It's not like he's copying a bus out of one location and putting it into another, or changing bus numbers around. Him applying a blur to his photos is no worse than you taking yours in B&W, IMHO.

What does me taking pics in black and white have anything to do with it? No kind of correlation.

Because you edited photos just like I did so I think I have just as much right to do whatever I want to my photos as you do. So before you start going all judgemental on someone else's pictures, check yours first.

First of all, that wasn't an edit. I took those in black and white.
There are a few other 1998 & 2000 40' Orion Vs that are wrapped in the Adobe ad besides 2199. See my sightings lists -- specifically the buses wrapped in the Adobe ad -- in the October 2009 Observations thread.

While those sorts of errors don't happen as often as they used to with the CleverDevices being used to set the signs, it isn't unheard of. I've seen the T3 to Rockville and the J7 to Federal Triangle before, among other screwups. I also once saw a 2000 Orion V at Friendship Heights with its original signs that showed three different routes on each of the signs, none of which was the route the bus was about to start and none of which stopped at Friendship Heights. I can't locate the photos at the moment however.

This is my last set of photos for a while...and I mean a WHILE...depending on how fast I get the money for the new one I want (since I don't have a job, this won't happen for a while). Now these photos were taken within a range of 2 weeks ago up until yesterday, from Montgomery to Landover, DC, NoVA, etc...
My last shots were of 6456 on the J9, unfortunately, they were bad blurry shots, and that's where I decided that I can't take pics like this anymore, I want a camera more suitable for the conditions of what I shoot. Now, the photos below are in alphabetical (or in this case, numerical) order because that's how my photobucket is set up and I'm too lazy to arrange the photos from oldest to newest.
Nonetheless, here's the pics, enjoy!

Strategic bus probably covering for a broken down bus or an extra run.
