I've actually had this account for eons but finally found a good use for it.  Follow DCATZ at www.twitter.com/dctransitzone.  You'll find out when there are major changes to the site, or when we're working on something, and if you want to help, you can find us in the DCATZ Chat Room.

For example, I'm working on a big WMATA roster right now, and if you wanted to participate in the process, you would find out from a tweet and then could go to the DCATZ Chat Room and talk about it.

For non-Twittercrats (such as myself, actually), Twitter is a short message communication service...it's used for lots of weird things now that I don't really understand, but my intention with DCATZ is to use it as a quick way to send out notices that we're working as a group on something that you might be interested in working on, if you knew it was happening.

You can add email addresses, phone numbers (to receive text messages), and I think even instant messenger addresses so you can get a note that things are happening.  If you're sitting around watching TV and eating chips, then find out something big is going on at DCATZ, wouldn't you join in/ :-)

The first "Tweet" I sent out was last night, when I was working on a WMATA roster.  I said "We're working on a huge WMATA roster in the DCATZ Chat Room. http://tinyurl.com/dctchat" - if you follow WMATA bus movements and wanted to chip in on working on the roster, you would see the note and drop in to the chat room.  It's a great way to get a random group of people together at a random time for a random purpose that they all have in common...as I use it, anyway.

Why Miley Cyrus needs one, I can't explain.  http://twitter.com/dctransitzone.

If anyone tried to click on the link to the Twitter page and found it didn't work, it was because this board software included the period in the clickable URL.

The proper address is http://twitter.com/dctransitzone .
