OK you all fresh out the paint shop is former Metrobus 1319 now transformed back to its former AB&W livery before Metro painted it. What is unknown is the no. was it 1319 then also or something else. If anyone knows please pass that info along so we can get it properly numbered. Here are a couple of before and after shots. Enjoy, Mark    ;)

Bus also has to be lettered and a few other final touches. I think it came out nice. What do you all think?

Very nice.  Will they be able to get the chrome bumpers?

I thought it was 319 prior to Metro taking over.  I think OMOT.org has a list of these and I could have sworn I read that the 4th digit was added at that point to every private company they took over.

We worked a little more on the AB&W bus this past weekend, found some chrome bumpers and will soon replace them.... we enlist your help on the lettering and placement of the number ( which will be 319...thanks for the help on that ). If anyone have some old photos of AB&W buses please post them so  we can see how they were and properly letter and number it. I would like to consider each of you a member at large  :o ...especially when we need advice, or comments on our buses Thanks in advance and I'll have some more photos soon. Mark

Beautiful bus, Who did the restoration. It was 319 as stated earlier. GM TDH 5302. I used to own 1302,1306 and 1308. Due to health problems they were sold off. Where they are today is unknown. Great riding buses after being in service for almost 42 years. The rebuild of the 80's and strict hard maintenance policies kept them true work horses to the end.

I see that AB&W fishbowl has been done. There was also a Virginia Transit Co. bus redone as well. I tried going to their link and seeing the buses. All I get is a small picture of the ex GRTC 5303 restored to VTCo colors. Does anyone have a full shot of these 2 buses. That they are willing to post. Also AB&W oldlooks Where they originally Light Grey on the roof and windows .With a black stripe and a Red bottom. I'd like to see that photo too.
Thank you in advance ::)

Perry, you're right; it was no. 319 prior to WMATA takeover.  Basically they just added a 1 to the beginning of the existing number of AB&W acquisitions.  We recently found no. 1869 (nee AB&W 869), a 1951 GM TDH-4509 in D.C Transit colors sitting on a farm lot in rural VA near Lynchburg.  Someone stripped all the copper wire out of it, but overall it's solid.  It needs a lot of work though.
Once all the goats are rounded up, the German tourists are extradited, and the syrup trucks are returned, you'll have to admit that you never saw that one coming.
