DC Transit Today / Re: Does D.C. own all the Metrobuses?

Cool, wish  there were photos.

This may also be related to the fact that WMATA is buying about 15 or so Xcelsiors for DC Circulator.

Just found out about this on youtube and later confirmed on Wiki that these 2014 BRT 42s will indeed be the last of their kind. After the 105 buses are in, WMATA will switch back over to New Flyer Industries. I guess this will be the last New Flyer Break for quite sometime. 80 new XDE40s will be delivered next year with options to replace more Orion Vs (probably the 2000 units). As for the C40LFs and AN460s, they'll get replaced by XN40s and XDE60s respectively. You know, funny thing is that I predicted months ago that this would happen at some point, but I figured that NABI would at least complete the hybrid and maybe artic portions of the order while New Flyer does the CNGs. Didn't think this would happen so early on. I guess that this also means that ARTranist is probably going to get some Xcelsior XN35 CNGs or Gillg Advantage CNGs because of this. They just got some new NABIs the other day too as I personally reported last weekend. I suppose the next round of XDE40s will be numbered #7273 to #7352.

I heard they also owned the Gillig Phantoms when they were in service until 2001. After that, I heard a rumor that PRTC Omnilink bought some. Is that true?

Day-to-Day Sightings / Re: October 2014 Observations
November 01, 2014, 03:22:09 AM
From Yesterday:

PRTC 267 F/H line
PRTC 195 F/S Metro line
8003 MW 9X
2712 23T
3031 22A
PRTC 384 Montclair
PRTC 318 S-R1.

Couple interesting finds late yesterday afternoon and evening. First, I can confirm that 2014 MCI D4500CT #393 is in service with Omniride. Saw it on the Montclair line yesterday around 4:30. Secondly, I saw a 2012 Orion VII 3G Clean Diesel #3056 in service on a Northern VA route. Didn't know which one it was, but I know it was in service. Never seen those here before. This was at the pentagon.

The Blender / Re: Ebola Doctor takes MTA NYCT subway!

Oh, I doubt that. These are all East Coast airports. I would find that hard to believe to be honest.

In regards to the R46, and remaining R32 fleet... If the TA decided to disinfect them based upon this guy... While most of the remaining R32s are assigned to Pitkin... nearly half of the R46s are still assigned to Jamaica shops.

There are a lot of theories floating around.  I don't pretend to have the right answer, but I'd think to stop all flights from Africa (remember, that's a huge continent) is absolutely no guarantee of anything.  In fact... My understanding is that Duncan's travel itinerary took him through Brussels where he boarded United flight into the US.
You know what, you make an excellent point with that. I had totally forgotten about that detail. But the least they can do is shutdown access from confirmed countries.

Awesome! Maybe this will bring back the membership to this site. For the last few years, it seemed like this site was on it's last legs. Perhaps this forum can be similar to NYCT forums. What kind of changes can we expect content wise?

So... Many who ride NYC subway tend to make at least one transfer during their trip.  What's your suggestion to determine if this person had ridden another line?  Also... If this person infected other riders... How would one locate other riders, and determine where they may have ridden?  Does that mean shutting down the entire subway system, and maybe even the bus network?  Why stop with Ebola...  What about people who may have contracted something like Meningitis which can be highly contagious?

I'm not even going to get into your conspiracy theory.
It's not a conspiracy theory. But you got to admit that something is seriously wrong here. Why is the president and the CDC not stopping flights from Africa? Everyone else but the U.S. and Spain has, and it's spreading over there too. Did you know that Ebola has a 70% dead rate in western nations and over 90% in places like Africa? This disease is no joke and would mean disaster for the NY metro area in left unchecked (although it may be too late now). They also say that it's Airborne in temps colder than 45 dergees F, but I guess we won't know for sure until next month or so. The MTA can at least treat every last R32 (only 222 of them left in service) and R46 (752 units remain) on site.

Day-to-Day Sightings / Re: October 2014 Observations

From today:
PRTC 285 F/H line
PRTC 1000 F/S Metro line
6552 REX
3033 9A (9A seems to be domainted by 2007 Orion VII OG CNG 30 footers these days for some reason).
2590 16G
2608 28A
PRTC 1000 F/S Metro line
PRTC 285 F/H line

Also, while passing by the ARTranist depot on the 9A, I saw 2 brand new 2014 NABI 40LFW (That's right! 40LFWs) 3Gs parked, numbered #5054 and #5056, so I assume there's also a #5055 and maybe a few others. These along with the WMATA BRT 42s are probably going to be among the last NABI buses ever built. That's all for now.

The Blender / Ebola Doctor takes MTA NYCT subway!

Just read that this guy had apparently jogged, went Bowling, and rode the A train (supposedly) a day before he was confirmed to have Ebola. This is just sick. This proves that there is a criminal cover-up by the federal government that is allowing these people from these sick countries to fly here. I really don't know how the MTA is going to respond to this (if at all). NYCT currently has more the 6000 subway cars in service. If I were them, I'd start pulling R46s and R32s from service (the cars that currently run on the A).

Yes, but as I recall, doesn't WMATA comprise of 4 to 5 counties and several cities? With that logic, shouldn't the state that fund for some buses get those while the other gets the rest or something like that? I mean, WMATA is kind of a unique TA.

DC Transit Today / Does D.C. own all the Metrobuses?
October 20, 2014, 09:59:58 PM
I ask this because I noticed that all the WMATA buses sport D.C. plates, even the Orion VII OG CNGs, most of which are probably going to be permanent VA residents. How com some buses don't have VA or Maryland plates?

Think I'll be avoiding the Pentagon for a while.
