August 2014 Observations

Technically, this is from yesterday, but I saw PRTC #1002 with a mismatched body-panel. That bus (as well as #195) had recently gotten into an accident. Looks like they finally repaired it (#1002 at least).

Took the new Sliver line yesterday afternoon. Was a fun ride. Here's the rest of my travels:

Also, #2676 is no longer a REX bus either. Like #2674, it is now in the local bus scheme. Saw it yesterday at Pentagon Not In Service. Also saw #2678, which is still a REX bus. I'm starting to wonder if WMATA is going to discontinue the REX branded buses and just have regular Orion VII CNGs run the REX line.

It's also odd that they did this near the 10th anniversary of the launching of REX (Sept 2004). I also saw some FFX Xcelsiors out and about yesterday in Tyson's Corner. I guess the depot that uses them is now open on weekends? Lastly DASH has a new bus route, the AT9, which is a crosstown route. As soon as I know more about it, I'm going to fan it.

Also, while on the Sliver heading back to Ballston, saw a major accident on I-66. It was backed up for 2-3 miles. I guess it's a good thing I didn't need the 5A bus at the time.

Came back from Orlando yesterday through Dulles and caught one of the last 5A buses for the night.

Yup. Not sure about 40 footers but I heard we're gonna get 30+ baby Gilligs, going up to the 5090s

Great, so 5303 is all that remains in the original paint. Hopefully it stays like that but I doubt it.

George, #5303 is definitely repainted too, In fact it is really fresh, no ads! Saw it today at 7th/H St NW this afternoon.
